Austin Ligon
Investor
Austin Ligon is the co-founder and retired CEO of CarMax, Inc, a Fortune 500 company. He retired in June 2006, and is now an angel investor. Among his recent investments are Gazelle.com, Redfin.com; Rev.com, Getaround.com, Different, Startup Angels, CarTrade.com (India), Eneza Education (Kenya) and Tazza Kitchen.
Previously, Austin was a Senior Vice President of Strategy at Circuit City and Marriott Hotels and Resorts; and a Senior Consultant for Boston Consulting Group.
He is a board member of the Yale School of Management, and previously served on the boards of the University of Virginia Investment Management Company (UVIMCO), the Association of Governing Boards of Colleges and Universities, St. John’s College (Annapolis and Santa Fe), and John’s Hopkins’ Center for Talented Youth. He also serves on the board of several venture start-up companies.
Austin has a B.A. from University of Texas at Austin, an M.A. in Economics from the University of Texas and an M.B.A. in from the Yale School of Management.
